With the frontrunner's for the democratic nod in 08' being one, a white female and two, a black male, one stands to wonder how they got themselves in such a mess? Now, before you get red in the face you have to understand that I'm not saying that an African American or a woman is a bad thing. Their not, essentially. They are, however, a bad thing if they are running against each other for the democratic nomination. Let me explain.
For the longest time the Democrats have ran on minority platforms, aiming at the lower middle class for there vote base. Women's rights and minority rights have always been something that the Democrats have gave a nod to. Not to say, however, that Republicans don't care about minorities, I believe they do. Those issues just haven't been the key major issues they have ran on in the past. Democrats have been so focused on these issues that now in 08' the party is literally being torn.
While both Hillary and Obama both continue to say that race and gender are not issues, the voting public says otherwise. The vast majority of African American voters are going to Obama. While Hillary is receiving the mass of women, especially white women. The Result, two of the Democratic party's biggest running platforms are now in a full on political shoot out.
When divisions arise in a party it's best to mend them as quick as humanly possible. Nevertheless, with the Democratic nomination likely going to who ever buys out the super delegates its going to leave another half of the party out on the street. I don't imagine the losing half will be in any mood to reconcile quickly either. This spells out a big problem for the Democrats, one it will be interesting to watch how it develops. This whole ordeal, perhaps, is nothing more than a big White House cookie with John McCain's name on it. If he's wise he'll duck his head in this ongoing and shoot out, and focus on the bank. What I mean is he needs to use this time to campaign and amass money for the general election while his two opponents tear each other up. If your enemies are shooting at each other, it's best to sit back and watch.
